Character Building for Young People

Our Student Creed is based on the quote by Grandmaster Jhoon Rhee, known as the Father of American Taekwondo ,              “A balanced education consists of knowledge in the mind, honesty in the heart, and strength in the body…a true human being is     an educator not by words alone but by being an example.”

Study Traditional Tae Kwon Do

At Rising Sun Martial Arts Academy, we offer training in traditional Tae Kwon Do or Korean Karate. Structured to build the body, mind, and spirit; learn this versatile fighting art that focuses on dynamic kicking in a supportive, non-competitive atmosphere.

Our focus is on the overall well-being of the individual. Students will gain strength, endurance, flexibility, and focus, along with the self-confidence that they can handle themselves safely in a threatening situation. We offer training for both children and teens of all levels of experience in this dynamic style of Martial Arts.

Chanbara: The Way of the Modern Japanese Samurai

Chanbara can be loosely interpreted from Japanese as  "sword fight". Chanbara soft sword training allows you to practice Japanese-style sword fighting without danger of injury.

It demands discipline, timing, and accuracy. It compliments all Martial Arts techniques and styles. Become more physically fit, enhance reflex and reactive abilities, and gain focus.

Have a much greater awareness of your surroundings, allowing for a safer more secure life experience. Students can refine their stroke, stance, breathing, balance rhythm, and speed and gain overall strength and confidence.

Chanbara is so popular in Japan that it is offered through the Japanese Department of Education. Rising Sun Martial Arts Academy offers this popular training as part of our Kids, Tween and Teen program as an option for learning traditional swordsmanship in a safe and fun environment
